In Japan, the term manga refers to both comics and cartoons. However, outside Japan, the term is generally used to refer to comics originally published in the country.

Manga is a popular form of entertainment in Japan, and it has been growing in popularity in other parts of the world in recent years. Manga are often serialized in magazines, and then collected in tankōbon volumes. Tankōbon volumes are similar to trade paperbacks in the United States.
