About

Fujimura-Kun Mates is a comedy manga series which is written and illustrated by Shiki Seiichi. It was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine from 2009 to 2013, and is compiled into 16 tankōbon volumes.

Summary

The series follows the story of Fujimura. He's a typical delinquent, i.e., he's strong, he's tough, and he doesn't care about anything. But when he meets three girls - Eriko Usami, Shizuru Urabe and Subaru Yumizuka - his life is turned upside down. Eriko is the class president, and she is obsessed with Fujimura. Shizuru is a mysterious girl who knows more about Fujimura than he does himself. And Subaru is a happy-go-lucky girl who just wants to be friends.

Fujimura wants nothing to do with the girls, but they are determined to make him their boyfriend. They follow him everywhere, they try to force him to eat lunch with them, and they even try to sleep in the same bed with him. Fujimura tries to resist, but he slowly begins to fall in love with the girls.

My Thoughts

The manga has received mixed reviews from critics. Some have praised the series for its humor and its unique take on the harem genre, while others have criticized it for its lack of character development and its repetitive plot.

Personally, I really liked Fujimura-Kun Mates. I thought the humor was great, and all the characters were very enjoyable. I also liked the way the story was structured, with each chapter being a self-contained adventure. It was fun to watch how Fujimura reacts to each new situation.

I think one of the biggest strengths of the manga is its humor. The author does a great job of creating absurd situations and characters, and then finding the humor in them. I also liked how the manga didn't take itself too seriously. It was always ready to poke fun at itself, which I think made it even funnier.

The art style was simple but effective. I think sometimes having a simple art style can be more important than having a super-detailed art style, especially for comedy manga.

However, I also agree with some critics that the series could have benefited from more character development and less repetitive plot lines. But, I'm not too worried about the plot being predictable or the jokes being a little childish. I think those things can really add humor to a comedy manga. I feel the characters are the real stars of the show, and their interactions are always entertaining.

Overall, I think Fujimura-Kun Mates is a fun and light-hearted read that will definitely keep fans of harem comedies entertained. However, it is not without its faults, such as a lack of character development and a repetitive plot.

Harem Situation (Spoiler Alert)

The manga series Fujimura-Kun Mates ended with an open ending, leaving open the possibility of a harem ending. The final chapter of the manga features the three main female characters, Eri, Himuro, and Suzu, living with Fujimura. They were all seen very close to him, and there was even a scene in which Eri kissed him. However, Fujimura had not made any decisions about his romantic relationships with any of the girls. This led some fans to believe that the manga was setting up a harem ending, where Fujimura would end up with all three girls. However, the mangaka never explicitly confirmed this, so the ending remains open to interpretation.

I personally think that the harem ending is the most likely possibility, but I can also see why some fans might prefer to believe that Fujimura eventually chose one of the girls. Ultimately, it's up to the individual reader to decide what they think happened.
